Rescue pup vs. purchased pup

pups-pumpkinsThere are many people out there that feel that it is better to buy a new pup verses adopting a rescue pup. This could be because they feel that a pure bred puppy is the way to go for better training and quality. No matter the reason, the things that you need to take into consideration are that rescue  pups are still pups. They are not monster animals. In most cases these pups have been neglected and need a loving home.

There are many cases where Rescue pups have been adopted by service people and trained to be the dogs that protect our freedom and our families. These pups are just as willing if not more willing to do the work needed for the affection that they are given for a job well done. These pups are as adaptable as the next. They are many times very smart and easily trained with the right dog training methods. In some cases the pup that has been rescued may already be house broken or have other training that you would desire for you new pup to have. This could save you training cost in the long run.

If you are worried about the loyalty of a rescue pup I would like for you to think of this in a way that you may be able to better relate to. Are you going to be more loyal to the person that has saved you from a bad situation or the person that paid a pretty penny to have you as there own? In most cases the rescue pup is going to be more apt to give you the desired results simply for the fact that you have saved his or her life.

When you are going to purchase a pup, you are more than likely searching for a particular breed of pup. I highly recommend that you first check with your local shelters to see what they have. You may just get lucky and find the perfect breed of pup that you are looking for there.  Just because they are in a shelter does not mean that they only are mixed breeds or bad dogs. Allot of pups that you can find in shelter may have come from an over run puppy mill or from a situation where the owner found the pup to be more than they were willing to take on. Allot goes in to taking care of a dog and allot of people do not do the research ahead of time before making a purchase.

Yes, purchased pups are probably better for someone who is interested in having papers on a pup for show purposes or breeding purposes but I promise that those papers come with a high price.

If on the other hand you are looking for a companion who will love your family and be forever grateful and loyal to you I encourage you to look into adopting a rescue pup instead. Not only are you helping out with decreasing the amount of over stuffed shelters but you may also be saving a rescue pups life…..
